    Course Overview:

Our CAT and Genny Training course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to safely and effectively use Cable Avoidance Tools (CAT) and Signal Generators (Genny) for locating underground services. These tools are essential for preventing accidental damage to buried utilities, such as water, gas, electricity and telecom cables, during excavation or construction work.

The course covers a wide range of topics, starting with an overview of underground services and the importance of utility detection in preventing hazards. Participants will learn the correct operation of both the CAT and Genny, including how to set them up, calibrate the equipment and interpret the results accurately. Emphasis will also be placed on understanding the different detection modes and selecting the appropriate settings for various environments and service types.

In addition to the technical aspects of using the tools, the training also includes best practices for site safety, risk assessment and safe excavation techniques. This ensures that operators are fully aware of the potential risks associated with underground services and know how to minimise those risks through proper tool usage and safety protocols.

This course is crucial for anyone working in construction, utilities or excavation, where locating underground services is necessary to ensure safety and avoid costly accidents. By completing the training, participants will gain the confidence and competence needed to carry out accurate and safe utility detection, helping to safeguard workers, prevent damage to infrastructure and comply with relevant regulations.
