Course Content

• Site Survey and Planning

  • Conducting site surveys to establish suitable provisions for the site location
  • Identifying the needs of pedestrians, vehicular traffic, and those with special requirements (e.g., cyclists, horse riders)

• Safety and Risk Management

  • Assessing the safety of both the public and site personnel
  • Implementing responsibilities and safeguards for workers, plant and machinery within the work zone

• Equipment and Traffic Control

  • Selecting appropriate equipment to protect pedestrians, vehicles, and site staff
  • Managing portable traffic signals and operating Stop/Go traffic control systems according to site-specific traffic conditions

• Project Planning

  • Planning signing, lighting, and guarding projects in line with site requirements
  • Understanding the types of works, fundamental principles, and legal obligations surrounding site signage and protection

• Practical Application

  • Conducting on-site risk assessments
  • Applying methods for traffic and speed control
  • Operating portable traffic signals and managing works on footways, cycle lanes, tracks, and routes near tramways and railways
